Nicole Kirnan Bio: With strong ties to the North Country, Nicole Kirnan was a member of the St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team from 1997-2001. In her senior year, Kirnan served as an assistant captain on the SLU women’s team that lost in the first ever NCAA National Championship game. During her playing career, Kirnan was invited to participate in several USA Olympic festivals and competed on the USA Junior National team in 1996.
Nicole served as the head collegiate hockey coach at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York from 2002-2006. During her tenure, the team evolved into a national powerhouse, making NCAA tournament appearances in each of her five seasons at the helm. Also during this time, Kirnan was selected as a coach at the USA Olympic festival. In her time as a collegiate head coach, Kirnan represented the ECAC hockey league as their liaison on the NCAA Championships committee. Simultaneously, Kirnan held the position of NCAA Compliance Coordinator at Manhattanville College, serving as a liaison between the college and the NCAA.
From 2007 to 2009 Kirnan created the Westchester Vipers Girls’ Hockey program based out of Elmsford, NY, in an effort to provide opportunities for girls to play hockey. In addition, Kirnan has served as an evaluator and coach for the USA Hockey National Development Camps.
Presently Kirnan is the President of Velocity Hockey Training of CNY, a hockey lesson and clinic business in Syracuse, New York. In addition, Kirnan owns an ‘A’ level professional hockey team in the 1000 Islands Privateers of the Federal Hockey League.
In 2006, Kirnan completed her master’s degree in Sports Business Management at Manhattanville College. She holds an undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University, where she was a dual major in Economics and Sociology.
